Class Information
We teach progressive, structured classes with lots of creativity and fun! We do follow a syllabus that can lead to RAD or Canadian Dance Teacher Association examinations, should your child be interested. A major focus of ours is on performing and a portion of our classes is spent learning choreography and preparing for our performances. Our classes are for children interested progressive, structured learning and wanting to perform in a supportive environment. We also offer regular Friday Fun classes that are open all ages and levels of ability, where children can move to music with some guidance and just really let loose and have fun with no commitment!

Please read through the levels below in order to choose the class best suited for your child. If you are unsure please reach out and we can assist you. Note: if children are placed in classes where their ability does not meet the requirements of the class, the teacher will advise on a better suited class. Discounts are offered for students registered in more than one class. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out.

Dance Combination Classes
Students in combo classes will enjoy a variety of dance styles including jazz, ballet, hip hop and musical theatre. These classes include a warm up, stretch, exercises from the CDTA syllabus in both ballet and jazz which can lead to examinations should the student wish. These classes are a wonderful way for your child to sample different styles of dance in a fun, positive environment without a huge time commitment. Students in combo classes are also able to participate in our yearly performance of the Nutcracker as well as year end recital.

Dance Style Specific Classes
These dance classes follow a certain style of dance and style specific syllabus for the duration of the dance season. Descriptions for each class are listed below.
Ballet - Primary (age 4-6)

Dancers are beginning to see an introduction to some forms of technique in dance with a focus on the creative movement and exploration through use of storytelling and imagery. Engaging their curious and creative minds with the exploration of classical ballet alongside other dance style techniques in a nurturing and supportive environment. Through music and song children develop gross motor skills alongside developing their imagination, confidence and the foundation for a love for dance.

Ballet - Grade 3-4 (age 10-12)

In addition to the beautiful grace and storytelling in ballet, ballet improves strength, flexibility, coordination, and confidence. In Grade 3-4 Ballet, dancers will continue to develop ballet technique, musicality, and performance skills through barre and centre work based on the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus.

Suggested to have at least 2 years of ballet experience. New students are welcome to attend and the instructor will ensure the dancer is placed in the correct level.

Pointe Class (age 13 & up)

Pointe class is designed for students with considerable ballet experience. This class will begin by strengthening the feet, ankles, legs, and core, and progress to barre work and centre combinations. Students that plan to go en pointe within the next 1-2 years may register in this class as a “pre-pointe” class to prepare for pointe work. Before going en pointe and upon the recommendation of the ballet instructors, a dancer must have an assessment from an athletic therapist or physiotherapist to confirm that the dancer is physically ready for pointe work.

Acrobatic Jazz Class (age 7-10)

Jazz dance technique meets Acro tricks. This class teaches this super fun mix of early beginner jazz dance steps and musicality alongside Acrobatique tricks to blend in creating super fun choreography.

Senior Jazz (age 11 & up)

More intensive focus on the intermediate to advanced level of jazz technique and exercises. Building confidence in the dancers stylistic sharper movements and enthusiasm towards dance with creative engaging and challenging while ability appropriate choreography.

Junior Hip Hop (age 7-9)

A great class for students with little to no hip hop experience, and those still learning the foundations of hip hop. Dancers will begin to explore hip hop grooves and history. Dancers will develop skills in teamwork, rhythm, and confidence. Students with some hip hop experience will continue to build on their technique and grooves.

Experienced hip hop dancers will continue to widen their knowledge of the many styles of hip hop dance. Combinations will be increasingly complex, and the class moves at a faster pace. Dancers will continue to improve their teamwork, rhythm, and confidence.

Ballet - Grade 1-2 (age 7-9)

Ballet class is based on the classical training of the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus. Developmentally appropriate exercises and techniques to help the dancer grow in this foundational dance style and assist them in pursuing all other dance styles. Working in the centre to develop posture, balance, musicality, body awareness and line along with creative storytelling through ballet technique centred choreography incorporating artistic aspects of the dance form.

Ballet - Grade 5 - Advanced (age 13 & up)

In Grade 5-Advanced Ballet, dancers will further develop their ballet technique through the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, and be challenged with complex steps and combinations. This class provides a more in depth examination of technique, musicality, and performance, and grows confidence and discipline.

Tap (age 8 & up)

Dancers will learn and continue to develop rhythm and coordination through the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association Tap Syllabus. New tap students will learn foundational skills, and intermediate tap dancers will build on their skills to learn faster and more complex steps to build confidence.

Senior Acrobatic Dance (age 11 & up)

More intensive focus on the more intermediate level Acro tricks. Combining these tricks with flowing lyrical or sharp stylistic jazz choreography in learning super fun choreography. Acro dancers should have a background and be taking another dance style to assist in their progression in this class. Prior gymnastics or Acro dance background is very helpful however decision of placement will be left to teachers assessment and discretion.

Senior Contemporary (age 11 & up)

A much more mature dance style. Combining Graham and Limon modern dance technique along with fluid contemporary form. Dancers will learn beautiful, creative expressions of movement, explore creating choreographic movement themselves through guided improvisation and grow a stronger emotional connection to movement and music with this blend of flowing and strong movement exploration. Dancers should be also taking ballet as a support dance style or placement upon teachers discretion.

Intermediate Hip Hop (age 10-12)

Dancers will build on the foundations of hip hop technique and grooves, and be challenged through more complex combinations and transitions. Dancers will develop skills in teamwork, rhythm, and confidence.

Dance Performance Groups
Performance Group is for dancers that love to perform, and are ready to challenge themselves. The Performance Group will practice a variety of dance styles, while developing teamwork and a sense of community with their teammates. The dancers in the Performance Group will be in both Act I and II of the Nutcracker, and will have additional roles and performing opportunities through the year.
Junior Performance Group (6-10)
